Embedded Software
Developer Jobs
at KEBA
As an embedded software developer, you work together with the hardware developers on a product. The common goal is to find the perfect solution for the overall product consisting of hardware and software. At KEBA, e-charging stations, heating controls and hand-held terminals for machines and robots are developed in this way
For these product developments, software packages from open source projects are primarily integrated, for example Linux is the standard in use here. Therefore, it makes sense for an embedded software developer at KEBA to have a basic interest in Linux, but he or she does not have to be an expert in it.
The best prerequisite for gaining a foothold in this job is an education in software development paired with a good understanding of hardware. This is covered, for example, by the degree programmes Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics with Software Specialisation or Hardware-Software CoDesign.
I studied technical computer science in Vienna and found exactly what I was interested in at KEBA and initially did software for controls with drives. Privately, I brought along a great interest in Linux, which I was then able to deepen into expert knowledge at KEBA and took over responsibility for this operating system within the company. Recently, I took a big step towards becoming a product developer, where it is important not only to specify requirements in the team, but also to get involved and discuss the content.
This is the perfect job if you would like to learn new software packages and technologies on your own. The focus here is on combining existing software solutions and properly integrating and using open source projects. In addition, at KEBA you are always working with the latest chips and microcontrollers.
A very central aspect is that as an embedded software developer at KEBA you are part of a large project. In-depth technological discussions are just as important as the willingness to want to develop personally and as a team through mutual feedback in reviews.
My strength is keeping track of the development of an overall product. In my role, I have to be able to speak in the direction of sales and technology and always keep the big picture in mind until the finished product. At KEBA, I can continuously develop products that are equipped and built with the latest technologies. I like to be up to date with my work.
