Video: Excess PV charging explained
PV excess charging | Installing photovoltaic (PV) solar panels on your roof allows you to generate not only power for your home or the grid. Solar electric energy can also go directly to your electric vehicle - and thereby significantly shorten the amortisation period of a PV system by reducing charging costs. We explain what PV excess charging is exactly and how it works.
Passing on charging costs to the employer the easy way
Electric company cars are often charged at employees' homes. The electricity used must be recorded separately from private consumption. With our new company car wallbox, we offer a charging station that enables automatic billing of the charging current with the employer.
Climate-neutral KEBA charging stations now also for the Italian 1.5MW hypercar Fulminea
During the visit by Automobili Estrema CEO Gianfranco Pizzuto in Linz, it was announced that we at KEBA are Automobili Estrema's selected partner in the area of charging. Charging electricity vs fueling – which is cheaper?
Due to the electric motor’s extremely high efficiency factor, electric vehicles use significantly less energy than their combustion-engine counterparts. But does that automatically make their consumption costs much cheaper? Here is a cost comparison between using electricity and the fuels petrol and diesel for your car.
This is how well KEBA wallboxes did in tests
Independent tests by external experts, reviews, and user testimonials provide information about the strengths and weaknesses of a given product. They help consumers make informed decisions – and manufacturers become better. Here are the most recent test results about KEBA wallboxes.

Calibrating a wallbox: here’s what German measurement and calibration standards mean
You often see public charging stations in the German-speaking world reading the letters ME. They stand for "Mess- und Eichrecht" (measurement and calibration act). But what does that mean? What other calibration standards are out there? And why do I need a calibrated wallbox for my personal use? Here are the answers.
“Making sure the battery gets fully charged”
Before and during charging, a charging station communicates with the electric car. To make sure all new models allow for trouble-free charging with wallboxes from KEBA, we have developed regular compatibility tests. Armin Weberberger explains what it is about.
On top of things thanks to the Wallbox Finder
A wallbox can do much more than is commonly believed. Depending on its features, it allows using self-produced PV energy, transferring data via 4G, or evaluating individual charging sessions. To find the right model quickly, we are now offering our convenient Wallbox Finder.

Charging the company car at home – this is how the billing works
Electric cars are increasingly the first choice for a company’s vehicle fleet. To make the best use of them, drivers should charge them at home – the electric vehicle can park overnight and thus refuel in the most economic way. To pass on that part of the electricity bill to the employer, there are various options.
1.13 with new features and improved user experience
The latest software update for KEBA’s x-series wallboxes offers both technical improvements and operating comfort. As always, it is free of charge and easy to install. So, we stay true to our principle: to keep improving our own products when they are already in use.
A smart wallbox – what does that mean?
‚Smart’ is an attribute used for many things: watches, TVs, phones, and even entire houses. What does the quality of smartness in everyday objects mean for us? And more importantly, what does ‚smart’ mean in a wallbox? Find the answers here.
Excess PV Charging – What does that mean?
Installing photovoltaic (PV) solar panels on your roof allows you to generate not only power for your home or the grid. Solar electric energy can also go directly to your electric vehicle - and thereby significantly shorten the amortisation period of a PV system by reducing charging costs. We explain what excess PV charging is exactly and how it works.
E-Mobility Glossary
From the outside, a conventional combustion engine differs only marginally from its electric relative - internally, however, it differs a great deal. A different engine brings with it many new terms that require explanation. From 'A' as in 'AC' to 'F' as in 'FI circuit breaker' and many other terms, we have listed the most important technical vocabulary that an e-car driver should know.
Load management - importance and benefits
There are still more ICE vehicles than electric cars. But what if the situation changes over the next few years? Are the power inputs, particularly of large residential buildings, de-signed to have the majority of tenants “fill their tanks” at home? The answer is yes – if the load management is sophisticated enough.
How long does it take to charge an EV?
People often cite charging time as a major shortcoming of electric vehicles. However, the duration is dependent on many factors and can range from a few minutes to several hours. Find out below what causes such big divergences and why the actual charging time is irrelevant in most cases.
Cable or no cable? That is the question.
Aside from the inner qualities of a wallbox – which include performance and safety features as well as attributes such as user identification, consumption gauge, and communication with existing systems – a purely external distinction can be made between two types: wallboxes with a fixed cable and wallboxes with a charging socket. These are the advantages of both models.
AC and DC? Single-Phase and 3-Phase Charging?
If you want to drive an e-car or a plug-in hybrid, you have to deal with the subject of charging. You’ll quickly come across terms like alternating and direct current, single-phase and 3-phase charging. But what do they mean and how do these concepts influence the way you charge your vehicle? Here’s a summary of the most important points.
Mobile or permanently installed: Which wallbox is right for you?
Those who want to be able to charge their electric car or plug-in hybrid at home face a decision: To buy either a mobile charging station or a permanently installed wallbox? Before deciding on one of the two options, you should ask yourself the following three questions in order to make the right choice.
Is it worth having a wallbox for my plug-in hybrid (PHEV)?
With modern plug-in hybrids, distances of up to 90 kilometers can be achieved purely electrically. That is usually enough for the commute to work or other everyday journeys. All the same, the batteries of these PHEVs are significantly smaller than those of purely battery-electric vehicles (BEVs). So, is a household socket sufficient for daily charging or does it still make sense to have a charging station?
KEBA honoured with "Austria's Best Managed Companies" Award
The international Best Managed Companies programme, which is already established in more than 30 countries and awards outstandingly managed companies, was carried out in Austria for the first time this year. KEBA is one of the first Austrian award winners.
IAA Mobility. New Name, New City, New Concept.
In 2021, the International Automobile Exhibition IAA became IAA Mobility. The name says it all: Rather than putting only the car at center stage, the focus was now on mobility today and tomorrow. In addition to cars, especially bicycles and even small airplanes were presented at the Munich Trade Fair Center.
Plug or wallbox?
The standard delivery of an electric car in Europe usually includes a Type 2 charging cable that can be used for charging at a public charging station or wallbox with a socket, as well as a so-called emergency power cable with a Type F plug for the standard 230 V power outlet. You can use this emergency power cable to charge your electric car (or PHEV) in your garage at home. But should you really do that? There are several reasons why you shouldn't.
Charging at home – What’s important
Those who want to charge their cars not only at work or at public charging stations, but also at home, have to consider a number of aspects. Here are compact answers to the six most important questions, from the approval and installation of a wallbox to charging speed and electricity costs.
Charging at home or publicly?
A car with a combustion engine is refueled publicly at a service station. Why not do the same with an electric vehicle? After all, the public charging network has a large number of charging stations and gone are the days when people were forced to charge at home because the network had not been sufficiently developed. Four facts speak in favor of charging at home nonetheless.

"Urcharge" project examines crucial questions about the viability of e-mobility for everyday use
One of the largest and longest electric mobility field tests in Austrian history starts tomorrow. For the project "Urcharge" (Urban Charging) 51 households in a Linz residential complex will be exchanging their fuel car for an electric car including their own KEBA charging station, which is integrated into the Linz AG charging solution "WallBOX CitySolution". It will provide answers to fundamental questions about what infrastructure and charging behaviour is needed in order to make the day-to-day use of e-mobility a decisive environmental protection factor in urban areas, even for densely populated areas. The start of the project had been postponed due to Corona - now the project gets underway.
