Heat pump with photovoltaics
For a green, CO2-neutral future
The European Union has made the expansion of renewable energy sources one of the principles of its energy policy.
This is particularly essential in the electricity sector, as renewable electricity can be used to meet the demand for heat (e.g. for heat pumps) as well as the demand for CO2-neutral mobility (electromobility) in a climate-friendly way.
The “sector coupling” of electricity, heat supply and transport is the key concept for the expansion of sustainable energy systems and will make it possible to further increase the use of renewable energies. By combining heat pumps and photovoltaics, a significant part of the electricity for the heat pump can be generated without emissions and your customers’ own PV consumption can be optimised.

For those who want a precise overview
This is how the KEBA heating control system KeEnergy is integrated into your heat pump:
Our innovative heating control system has a Modbus TCP interface. This means that it can be integrated into an energy management system that supplies the heat pump with information about the excess power fed into the grid. Alternatively, this information is passed on to the heat pump via an S0 meter. The Smart Grid Ready interface can also be used to control the heat pump with PV energy.
Modbus TCP interface
The energy manager determines the surplus power supplied to the grid and transmits it via Modbus TCP to the heat pump control. As soon as the PV surplus power exceeds a configured limit value, the heat pump is switched on and operated with PV power.
The KeEnergy heating control system regulates the power consumption of the variable-speed heat pump exactly to the power specification of the energy manager.
S0 interface
upstream or downstream of the heat pump
The feed-in meter with the S0 interface determines the surplus power supplied to the grid and passes it on to the heat pump control. As soon as the PV surplus power exceeds a configured limit value, the heat pump is switched on and operated with PV power.
The KeEnergy heating control system regulates the power consumption of the variable-speed heat pump exactly to the power specification of the energy manager.
Smart Grid Ready interface
As soon as the power of the PV inverter exceeds a configurable value, a potential-free relay contact is closed in the inverter. This controls the Smart Grid Ready input on the heat pump control and the heat pump is operated with PV power.
