What is KeBob?

KeBob is a digital, AI-based assistance system that improves safety, security, and people’s well-being in self-service areas, in particular the foyers of banks and savings banks.

How does KeBob work?

Lying at the heart of KeBob is an artificial intelligence (AI) system that has been pre-trained at KEBA and is continuously optimized. This detects, assesses, and responds to situations on the ground in real time. KeBob uses AI to understand what people are doing in the foyer and assess the urgency of their actions.

When is KeBob used/how can KeBob help me?

KeBob makes bank branches safer and more secure, in particular when it comes to ATM burglaries using explosives. Even when the foyer is open, KeBob can identify suspicious people and automatically activate security measures (such as shutters closing in front of the self-service machines) and notify security staff.

KeBob also plays a major role in improving people’s sense of safety, security, and well-being in the branch – bank staff and customers alike. It can ask people to stand further back or remove their helmet, and detects people lying down who are in need of medical assistance. What’s more, KeBob can address people directly on site, which helps to de-escalate situations. It can also ask overnight and party guests to leave the foyer.

What’s the difference between KeBob and a conventional surveillance camera?

KeBob is more than just an AI monitoring camera – it’s the first intelligent, AI-based helper for foyers that is tailored to how things work in banks. It understands what people do, assesses their actions, and can respond to them there and then in real time and interact with people. This combination is unlike anything else on the market and makes self-servicing banking an even safer, more secure, and more pleasant experience.

As a bank, how do I benefit from KeBob?

In banks, KeBob can be a new, digital employee that helps staff with their day-to-day duties in the branch – particularly when it comes to improving people’s sense of well-being, safety, and security in self-service foyers.

As a bank, you’ll also find that KeBob reduces your costs, such as from false alarms caused by people who spend too long on the premises, or who try to push the doors open to gain access when the foyer is already closed.

Can KeBob replace a human advisor?

The system helps human advisors, but does not replace them.

Can KeBob respond to customer inquiries in real time?

Yes, in a future incarnation of the system we’re planning to give KeBob the ability to respond locally to customer inquiries in real time. This will make it the first intelligent helper for foyers.

Is my data secure / is KeBob GDPR-compliant?

Yes, the image data detected by KeBob is only recorded locally and is processed in compliance with the GDPR. This ensures the highest security standards in banks and the confidentiality and integrity of the customer data. No personal data whatsoever is saved as the image data is only processed locally.
