Decades of cash recycling know-how
KEBA’s history in bank automation goes all the way back to the 1970s, when KEBA was deep in the field of self-service locker station controls. In 1992, KEBA presented its first ideas for cash recycling – a technology then booming in Japan, but still entirely unknown in Europe.
Austrian trailblazer
The automation enterprise from the European heartlands thus paved the way for cassette-based cash recycling technology to carve out its place on the European market. Today, KEBA leads this field in Austria and is number 2 in Germany.
A new dimension of cash recycling
For the evo series, we upgraded the key technology component: the cash recycling module. We added technology to the tried-and-tested Type 5 validator to open up entirely new possibilities: weatherproofing the mechanical elements means the products can now be deployed outdoors.
Dual cassette technology makes it possible to recycle up to eight denominations with only five physical cassettes. This optimises processes and opens up options, for example for branches without teller counters, for replacing teller assist units (TAUs) or for personnel-assisted self-service (self-service teller counters).
“One thing we’re personally committed to is the market’s dynamism. We want to keep competition healthy in the bank industry, not only because it’s good for business, but also because it fosters innovation.”
Greater profitability
Optimizing cash supply and disposal cycles raises branch profitability.
More time for sales business
Time-consuming business operations are shifted from the counter to the self-service area, where they are handled efficiently on the cash recycling machine.
State-of-the-art branch concepts
Cash recycling is considered a major factor in supporting self-service sales strategies and in implementing state-of-the-art branch concepts.
High availability
Availability powerfully affects customer acceptance and is thus a strong driver of your branches’ profitability.
Where machine availability may at first glance appear high at 95%, ATM experts know how impactful those eight hours a week are when the machine is down.
Machine availability of 98% cuts the machine downtime to only three hours. A 3% increase in availability is a 60% reduction of failure rate – a significant factor in terms of customer satisfaction.
Innovative Technology
The technological mastery of the evo series lies in its clarity and structure. Even though evo is built upon unique and complex technology, it remains easy to operate, user-friendly and highly available.
Evolution, not revolution
With the world around us becoming ever more dynamic, it’s all the more important that the (r)evolutionary evo series does not simply sweep away all that came before. KePlus R6se and KePlus X6se already impressed with exceptional availability rates.
Thus, what evo stands for is slow, steady development. The existing is augmented incrementally over many small modifications, always remaining a harmonious whole.
Tried-and-tested made better for the future
- We value reliability and things that have proven themselves in the past.
- We marry this to the will to improve the tried-and-tested seamlessly, creating by fluent transition something new at the bleeding edge of progress.
Our key technology component is the cash recycling module. So it’s simply natural that we maintain the partnership we have grown in this field over many years with Hitachi-Omron Terminal Solutions.
Co-Creation
KEBA has maintained a strategic partnership with the global market leader in cash recycling, Hitachi-Omron Terminal Solutions, since 1992. This partnership is expressed in close cooperation and avid exchange. The latest fruit of our collaboration is the jointly developed cash recycling module for the evo series.
This time, KEBA took the development project one step further by actively engaging select customers in the process, whose input was constantly fed back to the product engineers at KEBA and Hitachi Omron Terminal Solutions.
Taking development collaboration a step further
This kind of collaboration is called co-creation. Instead of treating customers as passive recipients, it considers them added value through their integration in the product design process.
This results in solutions that align more closely with customer requirements than ever before.
Our notion of quality
- Clarity,
- structure and
- order
inform our notion of quality. Meeting the quality demands we and our customers set is one of our top priorities. Plus, we at KEBA are engineers at heart. We are driven to dedicating ourselves to complexities, ever with an eye to the smallest of details, in order to create magnificent solutions.
evo merges technology and passion
What this means for us is that our notion of premium quality doesn’t stop at a machine’s outward design. Instead, it permeates our systems to their innermost core, infusing every single component. In its optimised interplay of
- all technical components,
- mechanical elements and
- the machine as a whole with all of its facets of usability and design,
evo consummates the marriage of technology and passion.
The heart of the matter
At the heart of every evo series product lies the newly developed cash recycling module UR2A, co-created with Hitachi Omron Terminal Solutions. This technology is supplied in Europe exclusively by KEBA.
- Premium quality,
- maximum availability and
- long-lived robust technology
are the hallmarks of the advanced version of the tried-and-tested HCM (Hitachi Cash Module).
New cash recycling module
- For validation, we rely on the tried-and-tested Type 5 validator.
- With its new drawing and separator technology, the cash slot plays a major role in ensuring availability.
- The All-in-Safe concept protects both cash assets and the key elements for banknote handling against tampering from outside.
- Dual-cassette technology facilitates recycling of up to 8 denominations.
Almost all technology elements are concealed. Deposits and withdrawals are made even easier for all user groups thanks to improved ergonomics (tilt angle, height, visual access, lighting) and are now also possible in any kind of environment thanks to weatherproof mechanisms.
Top usability for greater availability
Availability of your self-service systems directly affects the self-service turnover rates and the profitability of your branches.
The easier it is to use a self-service system, and the shorter the service times are, the more transactions your customers handle in self-service.
Besides optimising the banknote transport paths inside the machines, we have been investing heavily in usability, making system operation even easier for bank customers and minimising potential operator error.
- SmartSurface,
- clear arrangement of the elements
- and the revolutionary light-assisted guided user interface with Power-LEDs
direct the customers’ attention to precisely where actions are required when using evo.
New service assistance system
The availability of your self-service system is also affected by how rapidly any problems are resolved.
If there is a fault (e.g. no more paper for printing receipts), a bank employee can use KePlus MAX to sort out the problem themselves really quickly. There are
- a simple user interface and
- graphically guided step-by-step instructions
to make troubleshooting easy for bank personnel and to reduce the potential for user error.
